What is the role?
As the Performance Marketing Manager at Hunter & Gather, you will lead our digital advertising initiatives to drive customer acquisition and business growth. You will own the management and optimisation of paid social and search campaigns, using data-driven insights to shape strategy and maximise performance.
Your responsibilities include planning, briefing, and executing creative testing strategies to deliver high-impact ads that resonate with our audience. By combining your creative vision with technical expertise, you’ll help expand our customer base and contribute to a mission-driven brand dedicated to improving global health and wellbeing.
You’ll be an integral part of a passionate, fast-moving team, driving Hunter & Gather’s digital presence to new heights.
Key roles and responsibilities:
Strategy: Craft and implement comprehensive performance marketing strategies to drive customer acquisition, engagement, and retention. Ensure alignment with the company's business objectives and brand ethos.
Platform Management: Serve as the primary manager for advertising campaigns across Meta (Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, etc.), Google (including YouTube, Google Ads, etc.), and other digital ad networks. Continuously monitor, analyse, and optimise campaign performance.
Testing: Build and implement a robust testing roadmap, briefing creative teams to develop compelling, on-brand, conversion-optimised ads. Report on performance, iterating or testing new concepts where appropriate.
Creative Direction: Collaborate closely with the creative team to plan and brief compelling ad creatives. Ensure all content is on-brand and optimised for conversion and user engagement across different platforms.
Research: Identify best-performing creatives and industry trends from competitors and complimentary brands to inform testing and strategy.
Data Analysis: Rigorously analyse and extract insights from campaign data to optimise budgets, forecast trends, and drive strategic decisions.
Budget Management: Efficiently allocate and manage advertising budgets to maximise ROI, adjusting spend based on performance data. Forecast spend and acquisition volume accordingly.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with internal teams (such as sales, product, and content) and external partners to ensure a cohesive and integrated marketing approach.
Reporting: Deliver regular, clear reports on campaign performance, insights, and learnings to senior management and relevant stakeholders.
Market Trends: Stay current with industry trends, platform updates and emerging tactics to keep Hunter & Gather at the cutting edge.
Relationships: Work with external vendors (Meta, TikTok, Google etc.) to understand best practice, new features and campaign improvement opportunities.
Essential
Proven experience in performance marketing, ideally within fast-paced startups or performance-driven environments.
Strong understanding of key business metrics such as MER, ROAS, LTV and LTV:CAC
Expertise in paid social (especially Meta ecosystem) and SEM (Google Ads), with emphasis on paid social.
Strong understanding of Digital Marketing as a whole and how paid fits within the customer journey.
Hands-on experience with Meta Ads Manager, Google Ads Manager, GA4, and Shopify. Bonus if you have YouTube & TikTok experience.
Excellent analytical ability to interpret data and generate actionable insights.
Creative mindset with experience in briefing and testing high-performing ad creatives.
Comfortable working under tight deadlines in a dynamic environment.
Desirable
Experience scaling brands, particularly in FMCG or challenger brand sectors
Strong copywriting skills and collaboration experience with creative teams.
Basic Design skill (Canva or similar)
Intermediate/Advanced Excel/Google Sheets for reporting
Ability to work independently and document processes clearly
Experience presenting data to management
Experience with project management tools such as Asana
Passion or appreciation for ancestrally-influenced lifestyles (Keto, Paleo, Low Carb, Animal-Based)
