What is the role?
As the Senior Demand Planner at Hunter & Gather, you will be responsible for forecasting product demand, ensuring a consistent supply of inventory, and managing relationships with our contract packers and manufacturers. This role involves analysing market trends and historical data, and sales forecasts to predict product needs, balancing supply with demand, and ensuring that inventory levels meet customer requirements without overstocking. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a fast-paced food business, with a strong understanding of supply chain dynamics and the ability to collaborate effectively with external partners.
Stock & PO Management
Prime responsibility for the Demand Plan and Production planning
Place POs based on the production plan
Communicating Finished Goods’ and Components’ forecast to suppliers
Supporting Head of Operations with managing stock queries and discrepancies
Creating monthly forecast variance and accuracy reports to discuss with the sales team, identifying any root cause issues
Liaising monthly with the sales team to validate and jointly agree customer forecasts, ensuring they are up to date with the latest information and insights
Supporting the launch of new product development
Providing internal stakeholders with the most up to date supply and stock issues effecting the business
Monitor order fulfilment, track lead times, and ensure that customer requirements are met on time. Identify and address any supply chain delays or issues.
Responsible for ensuring completion of weekly and monthly activities such as assemblies, returns report, stock reconciliation
Ensuring compliance to required standards of business (OFF certification)
Conduct monthly stock reconciliations across all finished and component SKUs at 3PLs and co-manufacturers
Address unexpected demand fluctuations, supply chain disruptions, or quality issues by providing solutions and adjusting forecasts accordingly.
Purchasing
Building trusted relationships with suppliers through weekly/monthly check-in calls, and quarterly site visits
Place POs at optimal price breaks, to ensure correct cover but getting the best cost price
Transport & Logistics
Working with 3PL warehouse and logistics providers, being a key point of communication and contact
Managing the transport for Ex-works and FCA suppliers
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
5+ years of experience in demand planning or supply chain management, preferably in the food, beverage, or supplements industry.
Proven experience working with contract packers and manufacturers.
Experience working with primarily D2C businesses
Skills
Strong understanding of demand planning, inventory management, forecasting techniques, and supply chain operations.
Excellent analytical skills with proficiency in Excel and forecasting software/tools (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or other ERP systems).
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with internal and external teams.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
Detail-oriented, proactive, and solution-focused with a strong sense of urgency.
